Hi,  I have recently upgraded the HDD in out LS-320GL Linkstation NAS to a 2Tb drive.  I have created the partitions on the drive as per the original but with an increased capacity.  When i connect the new HDD to the NAS it simply goes into EM mode.  Please can you advise how i get the NAS out of EM mode, i currently have the NAS Navigator application on my laptop for connecting to the NAS as well as others in the office. Thanks

davo

Have you tried installing the firmware for the unit once its in EM mode? If so then what error do you get?

PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.

Hi,  I have just tried updating the firmware on the NAS.  This began updating and got to the reboot part, it then stated it couldnt see the device and the NAS began to beep with the error light displayed.  Now i am unable to see the NAS drive at all on the network or through the Navigator application.

Is the error LED flashing 6 times at moment? If so then follow FAQ 3 of 5 in the storage section to TFTP the unit.

Hi, Thanks for this.  I used the TFTP option on the unit whilst connected directly to it from my laptop, i then performed a firmware update using the LSUPDATER.EXE application.  After a short space of time i was then able to detect the NAS through the NASNavigator, and browse to the folders on the NAS from my machine.  I then connected a different CAT5 to the NAS for the network and it obtained an address via DHCP.  I could then browse to it again still.

As soon as I power it off, it beeps with the error light on and cannot be seen again until i repeat the process above.  I have checked in the firmware incase something hasnt saved.  It's as though it is forgetting the process done above.  The only was for it to start-up successfully is to boot whilst holding down the reset button, then run the TFTP process, and then wait for it to show in the NASNavigator (i also have to change the language in the firmware from Japanese to English then)

Thanks

davo

Use the TFTP process to boot in back into EM mode and then do a full firmware debig (including rebuilding the partition table)

This will however erase any data on the unit
