Hi,

Got this box yesterday and was very excited about it but now that has crashed into dissapointment as i've had numerous problems with powermanagement.

on auto power mode:

after a random amount of time this box powers off with the power led flashing at regular intervals.

the drive connection is lost and i cant refesh with  nasnav 2.11

updated the firmware to 3.08 (err, im in japan so used that, version installed ok - the box powered down twice during updates and i didnt see any error messages.) (there is a 3.09b but bit worried about installing THAT!)

the only thing to do is unplug and this restarts it and works as normal.

any help would be apprecitated.

thanks

Does the unit still power itself down with the new FW? Or is the only issue now is that it is in Japanese? (I'm sorry, I think I miss understood... Do you mean that you are located in Japan so you used the FW on the Japanese site?)

Does the unit behave this way if it is not set to Auto?

The unit is suppose to reboot itself three times during the FW update!

hiya

thanks for the reply.

ok, im in japan so used the japanese 3.08 fw update to not invalidate my warranty. unfortunately my japanese language level wont let me participate in their forum so i appreciate your help. (i changed the duo web admin to english)

anyways, if the unit is in "on" mode it works consistantly, only when in auto mode does it shut down after about 20 minutes.

my nasnavi shows 3.08 fw and the unit seems to be working well after the update despite only 2 reboots.

so, it seems that the powerdown only occurs after about 20 mins in auto mode.

i read on another post that the nasnavi power control software had to be added to the firewall exception (nasssv or something like that) so i added that.

a guess would be that the s/w isnt sending the stay awake signal to the duo so it shuts down after that time.

hope that helps

ah-ha!

seems that i didnt install the correct version of nasnavi the nas pm service wasnt running.

so reinstalled the nasnavi 2.11 and now when set to auto the drive shuts down after i shut off the pc.

however, now when i start the pc up again the drive whirrs but doesnt show on the network!

clicking refresh in nasnavi does nothing, and the powerlamp on the front of the drive flashes quickly and continiously.

even more worrying is when i switch the drive off the power doesnt go off at all! i have to unplug from the wall and when i plug back in again it powers up and i can see it on the network

any ideas?
