Hi.  I am a novice user to Buffalo, and have bought a NAS drive to use it as a media server to iTunes.  I have set it up ok, and it seems to be connected to my network ok.  Any reference to iTunes here talks about iTunes 7, but I have version 8 - I assume this will work in the same way?

I planned to move all the music from my pc onto the NAS drive, but what settings do I need to change in iTunes - I know where to change where music is stored, but how do I select the new NAS drive?

Thanks in advance for any help!

No need to change anything from itunes. It will automatically found the linkstation server as shared but make sure your itunes settings for sharing is enabled (its enabled by default).

Does the iTunes Server Functionality work in conjunction with Web access?  If my laptop is on my office network can I access my iTunes files via iTunes?

I'm using a Linkstation Live (HS-DH500GL) and I have just come across the iTunes Server functionality. I am however struggling to get it to work.

I have enabled PCast Server in the firmware and set the share folder to a share on my drive called iTunes.

The Shared folder shows up in iTunes under a section called Shared.

I am baffled how to get music onto to this share, manually copying files to the share does not do anything.

I have created a new library through iTunes and pointed it to the shared drive, this means now that I don;t have access to my own library. On another computer with iTunes if I go to the Shared drive entry it shows no library.

How do you go about setting this up???

You need to mount the shared folder that you created on the LinkStation, "iTunes", on your computer as a regular shared volume. Then directly copy music files and/or folders of music files into the shared folder from your computer.

The PCast Server will then update its database of available files and they will show up in iTunes when you click on the server name in the Shared section in iTunes.

Depending on how many files you put into the shared folder it can take several minutes for PCast to update and publish the list so that iTunes will see it.
