I have the LinkStation Live 1TB with Model #: LS-CH1.0TL

When logged into my Router, I do not see the LinkStation connected.  I do not see its mac address either.  So I can't connect to it and backup my data.

The LinkStation is connected to my router correctly with tested ethernet cables and the ethernet lights are blinking on the router showing a connection.  After booting up, the LinkStation LED turns from a blinking to a solid blue color.

I installed the software from the CD and the updated "Buffalo NAS Client Utility Ver1.00".  With both I am unable to see the LinkStation on my network. The NASNavigator2 software reports this error: "No available LinkStation is found."

This might help... On both my computer and my Sony PS3 (connected to this Verizon router MI424-WR), I had to change their connection settings to force Base 10 Half Duplex.  Could it be that I need to do this on the LinkStation?  But I can't access to make changes even if this is a thing I can change.

I am assuming that you have tried a different port on the router along with a different cable?

Can you connect to the LS if it is plugged directly into your computer?

kevin

Oh, and the network settings are automatic, I do not believe that there is a way you can tell it to only use one setting.

Yes, I have tried a different port and a different ethernet cable with the same results.

Are you asking me to connect my computer's ethernet port directly to the LinkStation using an ethernet cable?  I thought it required a network with a router considering it is a NAS.

Is the router assigning IPs to the PC  or are you running a static assignment? (run ipconfig /all and confirm it has a assigned address in the 192.168.0.x range -  if yes your are running DHCP).

Also 10 half is really slow - why was this necessary?  To get performance you should run 10 full or even better 100 full if the hardware supports the speed.  The router should be auto switching and support the other network components at their native speed.

I have a linkstation with gigabit connected directly to a d-link DIR 655 with gigabet.  Discovery was no problem and the router assigned a DHCP address to the NAS.  I then set the router to assign the same address based on NAS MAC.   The XP box found the share correctly (via windows and the NAS client) - as well as the media player

You can download Network Magic as a simple utility to get a snapshot of your installation- can provide some clues..

Also check your router and determine if uPNP is available as an option.  Ensure it is enabled especially if you plan to stream video to a media player or PS3

Finally I just installed the 2.11 firmware and it corrected some uPNP discovery / notify problems with my HP MediaSmart connect media player.  Hope this helped.
