Hello !

I am configuring a Buffalo LinkStation Pro for my client. I have this problem that i cannot configure Web Access feature to the Linkstation. Is this even supported in this version ? The box says "access your files from the internet".

The only options i found in the configuration page are FTP/appletalk.
So in other words, can my client access the Linkstation Pro from the internet any other way than using FTP. I have updateted the firmware but that did not do anything to solve the problem.

Really appreciate all the help i can get.

The LS Pro is one of the types I don´t own, but from the support pages I can see they don´t mention Web Access as one of its features. It supports Active Directory but I don´t know if it is of any use.

The Buffalo WA only lets you access files on the Linkstations (ie download), it does not let you save anything from the WAN.

There are ways around the limitations of the (typically) private internet connections with special SW, but then you need a PC always on.

Suomeksi sanottuna ja näitten kanssa pari vuotta harjoitelleena (lue: tapelleena), aika paljon tarvitaan aikaa ja kärsivällisyyttä että näillä laitteilla saa jotain aikaiseksi...

I am a new LS Pro owner, so not a guru yet. However, it may be worth mentioning to you that people can access your LS via FTP in the browser.  If you are a "noob" to FTP, you, like many people, may not realize that modern browsers natively support FTP.

So if your public IP Address is 1.2.3.4 and you have configured your router/firewall to NAT port 21 to your LS Pro, you can just go to this URL in your browser:

ftp://1.2.3.4

See? Replace "http://" with "ftp://". If you knew all this, sorry to rattle on!

If you have a personal home page on the Internet, you can create a simple HTML link to your FTP server like Check out all my wicked-cool files!.
