LS-WXL not staying up

So I just bought the LS-WXL, on paper it looked good except that now I already lost a day trying to make it work correctly, and didn't manage it.

first installation was correct, then I plugged it on my router, started to copy files on it.

When it works, it's good, except that after some time (it can be 10 min., it can be one hour), the unit is not reachable anymore from my computer (using a Mac).

The unit LED is blue, no blinking.

So there's no error, and I can ping it and it responds. But using NASNavigator, I can't see it anymore, and the disk is unmounted.

The only way to bring it back is to switch off/on

I tried it also when connected directly via Ethernet to my computer. Same stuff, so it's not my router.

I tried to update the firmware, except that it doesn't stay up long enough to even being able to be flashed from my computer.

Is there anything I can do or should I just return this ?

PS: I've seen in the resolved issues that someone had some similar issue and he eventually returned it. But what about other people who had the issue? Did everybody returned their faulty unit?

All of them.

I have 2 MACs on my LAN, they can see the NAS when it's started, then it disappears from both of them at the same time.

I installed NASNavigator on them and same problem, the 'Analys' button find the NAS but once it disappears, the analysis doesn't find them anymore.

I can ping the NAS from all my computers. I even see the network LED blinking on the back of the NAS, but nothing.

So, after hours of struggle, I finally decided an experiment. I stopped the unit for a couple of hours, letting it plenty of time to cool down, and guess what... it works back as normal.

It's a shame that a company manufactures so bad quality hardware. This Buffalo SAN unit can't stay online even one day without going disfunctional? Huh? Ever heard about heat sink?

I was surprised that I had  never hear about this brand. Now I know why.

I will bring this piece of **bleep** tomorrow to the store and will do more research for a decent home SAN. Farewell, Buffalo.

I have exactly the same symptoms. Bought the LS-WXL 94D (3TB Raid1 Array).
After booting the LS everything is fine. Even for several hours - sometimes a day. Than from one moment to the other the LS disappears. The mac (Finder) doesn't list the NAS anymore, Nasfinder2 is not able to find the device anymore, one can not reach the admin page via browser. But - you can ping the device and it response. The status LED is just blue without any blinking or Error code or what so ever.
If you switch the device of and on again - it boots up and runs just fine.
Well - at least for several hours again.

I cannot find any other thread, post, comment or * that is describing the same problem other than this one.
Funny fact - i too use 2 macs to connect to the LS.

hm.
