Drivestation flexNet

External USB 2.0 & Network Hard Drive

model hd-ce640lu2-us

Made in Japan

Lots of other numbers on small stickers located on the bottom of the drive, none identify what they are but if you need them, I can type them later.

Purchased 1-2-2009

Following the Setup Guide I was able to get the USB and turbo USB to install and work like a regular external hard drive. Continuing on with the Setup Guide to Connect to the LAN was a lost effort. Got the green light on, got the desktop icon, and that's it. Clicking the desktop icon results in a message stating no net work drive was found. There's a go light on the lan hub, and the same on the hard drive where the cable is connected. And as said, the green light on the front of the hard drive. Tried rebooting my windows XP SP3 desktop. Unistall and reinstall the software twice. Tried three different hubs and four different cables. Followed the PDF USers Guide to reset the hard drive, and did it all again. Tried connecting through a browser window to the specified IP 192.168.11.150 each and everytime too. Nothing, notta, nope.

Sounds like it's either not pulling an IP address from your router, or you're not finding the address if it did get one. 192.168.11.150 is a default IP in case it can't communicate with anything on the network. And unless your router is in the same subnet (192.168.11.x) you won't be able to find the device.

Were you able to run the DriveNavi program? It should have been included on the CD and it should tell you what the IP is. If that program is saying 192.168.11.150, then it's not communicating with your network, and you may have to plug directly in to configure it.

Yes the software installed. Got an icon on the desktop to connect to the drive. The default IP provided by the manufacturer is an internal IP used for LAN connection. As it is also referred to in the instruction/user manual, also on the CD:

Using your DriveStation FlexNet in LAN Mode

In LAN mode, the mode button will glow green. If it's red, hold it in for a few seconds, and then release it. The LED will change to green.

After running the installation wizard, this icon will be on your desktop: BrowseHD-CELU2-xxx.

In LAN mode, clicking BrowseHD-CELU2-xxx takes you directly to the main folder on your DriveStation FlexNet.

Connect DriveStation to a rooter or an existing network.

If connecting DriveStation directly to your PC, you cannot use it via LAN although the setup wizard is complete.
