Hello all,

recently got a Drive Combo4 (HD-HS500Q) for back-up purposes. Working on a 5 year old Dell Dimension, therefore no SATA available.  I use the USB connection. OS: Win XP.

It seems the drive never goes to sleep (spin down), even though I go hours without communicating with it. How can I set it to go to sleep after some period of inactivity?

Thanks

ScottP

The drive will only spin down when Windows tells it to.  If you set the power switch on the unit to "Auto" instead of "Manual" this should cause the drive to spin down when the computer is powered off or put to sleep.  Other than that, there are no settings for the drive.

Thank you very much for the response. Unfortunately, this drive (Drive Station Combo 4) only has two positions on the power swith (on/off).

This model does not have a sleep mode.
