Greetings all,

I have a Terastation HS-DHLGT, firmware 2.14v........i have established a solid web access connection but do not have access to my shared folder.......When i log into buffalo nas instead of seeing my shared folder with my information i see a share folder with a whole list of folders that i dont recognize, all of them contain non executable files and do not appear any where on my terastation from inside my network......the only files i see that appear to work properly are the pictures in my pictures folder.....i do have a folder named applications that is in the share folder...this contains applications that are stored on my terastation.......to sum up my share folder only contains two folders that i recognize; the pictures folder; and the applications folder (which i didnt make, but did store applications in other folders) any help would be great....can get screen shot if it would help......thanks

This is a behavior I have never seen with these devices. Try this though, bring up the config page for the Terastation, in the config page go to maintenance -> initialization and click restore. This will restore user config to factory defaults, but data will be left alone. Once this is done setup your web access configuration once again.

Thank you for your response.... if i do restore factory defaults will it also reset my raid array? I have a raid 5 set up and am very afraid of making changes that may effect the disk managment... Also what other effects might this have on the hierarchy of my network? Will i have to reconfig IP info or will it automatically obtain its given IP...(the terastation is set to have a static IP)......thanks -matthew b.

If all goes well you will not lose any data or raid information, however you will lose all of your user configurations including IP address and time settings.

Files that start with a . Were put there by your mac.  Because of the hidden file rights your mac will not see it, however SMB on the XFS file system will.  Also the pictures and the trash box are directories placed there by the Buffalo unit.

What version of MAC are you using.
