Linkstation HS-DH500GL not working since Power Cut

Hi

I have a Linkstation HS-DH500G.

Firmware revision - unknown - how do I find out this?

This was connected to a Modem Router and everything worked fine, we could access the files wirelessly from laptops no problem.

Since a powercut last week, the Linkstation HS-DH500G does not show up on any computer (it was normally shown in the network folder).

When selecting a folder (through recent documents) that would have been on the linkstation it comes up with the message: ''The drive or network station that the shortcut 'filename' refers to is unavailable. Make sure that the disk is properly inserted or the network resource is available, and then try again''

We still have internet access through the modem router.

I have tried connecting the Linkstation HS-DH500G direct to my computers with usb cables and via the ethernet cable - nothing happens.

I have literally tried everything I can and just cannot get it to work, it's clearly a problem with the linkstation as none of the 3 computers I have tried show it up when normally they would.

Please can anybody suggest anything that may help?? I am desperate as everything to do with my business is on here (and stupidly not backed up).

Any help very much appreciated :-)))))

regards

Bobby

Are there any new lights blinking on the front of the unit, or any audible queues suggesting that there is a problem with the unit?  you can try an EM mode boot to see if the unit becomes discoverable with the NAS NAvigator http://forums.buffalotech.com/t5/Storage/FAQ-1-of-4-EM-Mode-boot-procedures-please-read-this/td-p/11008" rel="nofollow" target=_blank>http://forums.buffalotech.com/t5/Storage/FAQ-1-of-4-EM-Mode-boot-procedures-please-read-this/td-p/11008  If that does help a force firmware, or possibly a TFTP boot could help

Hi

Thanks for the reply.

The only lights showing are Power and Link/Act.

The info and error are not lit up.

There are no audible sounds.

I have put the unit in EM mode, which firmware do I need and how do I download this? Thanks

You can find the proper firmware in the http://www.buffalotech.com/support/downloads" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.buffalotech.com/support/downloads  then just select your model number and download the firmware.

Thanks.

Downloaded firmware.

Clicked the LSUpdater, get the following response:

"Couldn't confirm a response from HS-DHGL-EM5D7, please check a network address of both PC and HS-DHGL-EM5D7.

Please disable the firewall function if it is on a PC

Updating is aborted"

Any ideas anybody?

I am planning to take it to a computer repair shop tomorrow, can I get it out of the EM mode or should I leave it as it is now?

Thanks

In this case you want to follow the force firmware procedure in the frequently asked questions section.
