Un-formatted/ Un-connected after firmware 1.62?

Hello everyone! I have my NAS LS-QVL7BE for a about a year but never get it to work.  So today while I have some spare time I try to see if I can finally make it work.

 

I put in 2 HDs (with exisitng datas that I don't need), upgrade firmware, and let the system does its own thing. 

 

After all the bootings and rescanning, the system shown on my NASNavigator2, but it listed as having errors, and a red bar wrote (un-formatted/un-connected), so what gives? I thought the formating is being done while updating?
