Flashing Red Lights and no access

I have searched the forum and found the following question asked a lot, but all answers were inconclusive.

Please forgive me for trying again.

STATS

Buffalo TeraStation

Model HD-H1.0TGL/R5

SN      45801061204580

Firmware  1.12

Network:   WinXP peer to peer

On bootup I get 4 flashing red lights.

They flash continually - short flashes

The DIAG light flashes once every 8 flashes or so of the red lights.

The drive is not accessable.

Does anyone know if this indicates a dead TeraStation? It's about 4 years old.

Can the data be recovered? (Most of it is backed up).

Any ideas would be most welcome.

I would suggest trying the Force Firmware procedure listed on the forums. It sounds like you are getting the "failed to load kernel" error.

yup it's dead...I've a couple of these lying around & have tried everything...from recreating a tftp script to cloning and even force flash but it just would not work...
