NAS wake on LAN

Hello,

 

I have a windows 7 ultimate PC with a Buffalo NAS LS-WX20TL connected on a Buffalo router.

 

I have ZoneAlarm Extrem Security running and the NAS won't wake up on LAN !

 

I shut down ZA : NAS wakes up. Put ZA back on again : NAS goes to sleep after 2-3 minutes.

 

Everything works fine when NAS switch is on ON (means NAS stays always on, no sleep mode)

 

Any idea ?

It is a setting within the ZA firewall, have you tried NAS Navi 2.24 to see if it helps?  But this is a common problem within ZA program, you will need to allow an exception within the firewall for it to wake on lan

Thanks for your help. And YES that the point : I cannot find the place to open the firewall to make the WOL works. I have tried to open some ports but to no avail so far. Only shutting down ZA makes the NAS to wake up...

 

I have an other PC on the same network also on Windows 7 but with a different (free) firewall : COMODO. No problem there !

 

I have the latest NAS Navi 2.24

Hello there,

 

ZoneAlarm recommends that Buffalo tests their NAS on a PC on which ZA is installed in order to find out the source of the problem.

 

Is this forum under Buffalo control somehow ? If yes, please do something !

Why? The issue lies with Zone Alarm, do you expect Buffalo to test there equipment with every single firewall out on the market? Good luck with that!
