How to restore from Terastation to TeraStation backup

Hi guys,

 

We have 2 Terastation PRO II's (TS-RHTGL/R5 F/W 1.33). We use one as storage and the other is simply setup as a backup location for the other one. They are linked and the backup is done every night at 7pm.

 

I'm trying to figure out how to get the data back off the 2nd one in the event of the first one dieing but I can't find anything about it.

 

The share folder that the first device backs up to on the 2nd device isn't visible in file sharing so I assume when it's assigned as a backup folder it becomes hidden?

 

I can't find any info about restoring from the backup.

When a TeraStation backs up its data to another TeraStation or LinkStation, a direct copy of the data is sent to the target, and it should not be hidden.

 

If you log into the web GUI of the backup TS, and go to 'Shared Folders' -> 'Shared Folder Setup,'  in the options for the target share, is it set as a hidden share?

 

The other option is to set up another backup, this time from the backup TS to the original TS, and that should restore the data to the original TS.

Hi,

 

That wasn't it but after deleting the folder and recreating it I realised that I hadn't enabled Windows File Sharing on that folder. I had assumed that not having that enabled would simply stop me from file sharing into the folder, not from seeing it.

 

After recreating the folder and enabling both Backup and File Sharing it was visible.
