LS-WXL, forced firmware issue

I`ve been dealing with this for a while. I follow the instructions to the letter but always end up with a failed attempt to force the firmware on my LS-WXL/R1. Everytime I start it into Em mode I also have to startup NasNavigator to change the Link Stations IP address, weird right. The IP is always different when it starts in EM mode, NasNavigator sees there is a LinkStation in EM mode and changes its IP to 192.168.11.150 (my computer is set to 192.168.11.1). From here I go into debug mode, and force the firmware and i need to partition the drives as well. everything goes smooth until the end of the firmware update where i get an error and the process is aborted. Why cant it just finish? After this when I refresh NasNavigator I see that the units IP address has changed again. Is this because I`m using BootCamp on my Mac (windows xp)? Any help would be fantastic. Thank you!

There is no strict guarantee that running xp through BootCamp will allow for full compatibility with the updater. However, If you've gotten this far, I would recommend running through any software on your computer that could have some effect on the network (firewalls, antivirus/antispyware, etc.) Make sure this is all OFF.

Has the updater returned with a specific error code? Please specify.

Otherwise, if it's the more ambiguous 'updater has failed' message, try running the software on a true Windows based machine.

if the NAS is connected thru a router, you can try DHCP reservation on router (router assigns same IP address every time for a specific MAC address), on nas side select dhcp.
