After 6 months of reliable service my LS-CHLv2 has failed.

On power on I get HDD whirring which is constant but stops after about 5 minutes from boot.

Right now I'm getting 6 RED LED flashes, but I have also seen 7 flashes.

In the early days of the problem I saw the unit as in EM mode but cannot replicate this now.

Any thoughts?

The 6 blinking red lights can be indicative of either a corrupted boot image, or the inability of the enclosure to recognize the disk inside. At this point, you'll want to start troubleshooting the former. Try powering down the device, holding down the function button, and turning it back on to get it into its recovery mode. If you then run the NasNavigator and find it on the network, you should be able to force the firmware back onto it.

If this procedure doesn't work, try the TFTP boot procedure, with steps of which can be found in the FAQ section of the storage forums.
