Download the latest firmwre from downloads section on Buffalo website and extract to Windows PC. Use a PC that is directly conencted to the network (not wireless). Disable all antivirus and firewall software on the Pc and run "lsupdater.exe" from the downloaded folder. Firmware will take approx 5 mins to update and then the Linkstation will restart with new firmware

Make sure that you have all of your firewalls and anti-virus shut down.  Also disable NasNavi from your system tray.

I'm having the same problem.  I connected my computer directly to the NAS, but with a regular ethernet cable, not a crossover cable.  I disabled Antivirus and the Firewall.  I opened NASNAV to make sure the IP addresses could see each other, then I removed NASNAV from the system tray.  The firmware install program still can't find my NAS.  I'm running Windows 7, but I changed the firmware install application to run in Windows 2000 compatibility mode, and I'm running it as an administrator.  The model number for my NAS is LS-WS500GL/R1-R.  It's firmware is currently at version 1.06 and I'm trying to upgrade to version 1.26.  Any help would be appreciated.

Nathan.
