Hi,

I've recently been given a buffalo hd-pe320u2 that was previously being used on a mac.

I understand that this version should be compatible with mac and pc.

Although my Windows XP recognizes that the "device is working properly" I can't seem to locate where it is and how to access it. It isn't visible in My Computer and Search has been no help.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Kind Regards.

Have you tried looking for the unit in your device manager? also within disk management.  in disk management you will be able to see the disk itself, and format it if necessary.  While attached to the Mac did you use the Journaled or extended journaled format?  That will prevent Windows from utilizing the device.  The Disk would need to be in Fat32 for both systems to be able to read/write to the disk
