Read errors on LS-XH1.0TL - Only from software

Hi have 2 of these NAS' and have tried a variety of sync software to use one as a backup of the other.

 

One of the drives is our primary storage at home so it's always used and I never have any read or write errors when using the drives directly.

 

But of a few sync programs that I've tried, they all have read errors on thousands of files and there is a handful of files that I can't delete even using Revo Uninstaller (I don't know if Revo should be beneficial on a NAS drive). The drives are only 25% full.

 

Is there some setting that I may be missing or a utility I may be able to run to fix this?

Are you attempting to run this program from the NAS?  Also, what are the firmware versions of the NAS devices?

I'm running the software from an XP SP3 machine.

 

I had 1.10 but yesterday installed 1.24 (I think I have the versions right - it's the latest) and still have the problem.

It's possible that the way the software is communicating to the NAS is what is causing the problem.  Same thing would happen with Symantec a while back, however the patch would have to be provided by the software developer not us.  If the device is accessible normally via IP then the device is functioning as it should.

The sync software was my first guess but then I tried two others, all very popular, and had the same results. There are also locked files that can't be deleted.

 

Maybe I'll manually sync them then try switching them. That way the problem drive doesn't need to be read from by the software.
