re-Connecting to PC

From my PC I used to be able to see the folders and files on my Linkstation LS420D (LS420DCBE) with File Explorer.   And then the hard disk on my PC went down, so I lost lots of settings.

With DLNA enabled File Explorer can see the LS420DCBE, but it takes me to TWONKY, which I doesn't give me the same view of my folders and files.

Without DLNA enabled File Explorer doesn't see LS420DCBE.

NAS Navigator v3.0.4 sees the Linkstation (firmware V1.88) no problem.
The Linkstation is connected, via ethernet switch, to the workgroup

What do I need to do to get back to seeing the LS420DCBE, folders and files, using File Explorer ?
Any advice much appreciated

The Network view on my PC is somewhat flakey, sometimes devices are shown and sometimes not

Regardless of whether they are visible or not you can right click on "This PC" and select "Create Network Location" or "Map Network Drive" enter \\LS420DCBE\ click Browse and choose which folder to connect to.
This should create a link to the folder under This PC and it can also be pinned to Quick Access or Start

From This PC I can see the NAS :-)

But when I click on it, it only shows me 3 folders - Music, Photo's and Video's, which are the same 3 folders that TWONKY shows.

What I'm not seeing is all of the other folders on the NAS. For example an archive of documents

So its something to do with how Windows is seeing the NAS . . . and probably something simple, if only I knew what it was.

Windows is only showing you the NAS as a media server but that doesn't stop you from actually connecting to the NAS using the manual method I listed.

You only need to create the Network locations once and they persist


I have given up trying to understand the vagaries of Network location on Windows!

You can always login to the console of your Linkstation and it should show you drive shares and permissions.  It sounds like you'll need to do this to see what the paths are and then map them out, as was suggested.
