Can no longer access LinkStatoin

Within the last month I bought and installed a 2T linkstation model LS-WX2.0TL/R1.  It is configured as a 1T Raid.  Connected to a switch on the network and accessed by both a Window7 machine and a Mac.  It was working fine for a couple of weeks.  Yesterday I was running a backup to it, which failed with the error message "The specified network name is no longer available."  The link station does not show up in my network, nor does it show up in the NasNavigator on either one of the computers.  I've checked the network cables and they are seated ok.. I though perhaps I could get the network to recognize the LinkStation by restarting it, so I turned the switch in the back to the OFF position.  But the drive continues to spin (sound), and the blue power light is still on.  I left it that way for several hours, thinking that perhaps it was doing some type of fix, but the situation continues 5 hours later:  The power switch on the LinkStation is OFF, the drive is still on, and the NAS Navigator does not show it up on either machine.  (and, yes, I did use the NASNAvigator's Refresh option also).

Any ideas?

It was still spinning in the morning.. and still not showing up in the navigator. So I finally unplugged the power to the drive (Didn't want to do it yesterday in case the raid was re-configuring itself).. When I plugged it back in and turned it on, it now appears in the Navigator, and I'm getting the message that the Raid is re-sync ing .. Anyone know how long it takes to resync a 2T linstation configured as a 1T raid?  It's been going on for about an hour now...

After the unit resyncs the RAID it will go through a disk check that can take anywhere from 24-72 hrs.
