I am turning on the linkstation quad and I get the below errors via email notification.

DISK Error Notification

HDD error occurred
Disk(s) the error occurred:UnknownDisk()

(sde) WRITE sector:63 count:1
Disk writing error
Some data may not be recoverable.
Immediate change of disk is recommended.

Also from the web admin interface I get the following message:

Currently a Format or Disk Check is being carried out.
During this time the LinkStation settings can not be changed.
Also the file share service will not be available
.

When I open the root of the network I can see all the folders, however when I access them I get a diagnose error. I am using Windows 7.

I am attaching the home screen of the web admin for your reference. From here when I click to see network/drive properties the left side buttons are not available (nothing opens).

All drive LED's are green but the power LED flashes blue and red and after some minutes (45mins) it is constant blue. I think I have to rebuild the raid 5 but as said the web interface does not let me access the raid configuration.

Could you please help. I have data which I can't afford to loose!

Let it sit for about a day or two to finish its disk check and it will come back with a log. You may need to after that replace a hard drive. But please let it finish.

When it finishes it gives a back fan malfunction error in the web admin and files are not accessable. I restart and it starts the disk check again with the same result at the end. Firmware is 1.04 and tried updating to 1.11 but during the update it give ACP_STATE_FAILURE.

Managed to recover the data through UFS File Explorer.

Please HELP to get the linkstation quad back to life!!!

You will need to try the Force Firmware Procedure.  You will need to check "rebuild partition table" and "delete user config" and the other two on that side.   You will need to uncheck update boot.
