direct copy issue/question

I have a terastation live and had an external hd connect by usb that i used to backup the TS woth its backup tool.  The psu for the external drive failed so I got a new one and connected it up.  When I switch it on the ts says mounting direct copy and unmounting when i switch it off. 

I run the same backup jobs as before but whenever i switch on the drive this direct copy thing kicks into like and the disk is then permently active.  I though the direct copy was somthing to do with cameras etc.  Can I switch it off and can someone explain whats its doing please.

If the firmware has been updated to 214_102 and the usb drive is formatted to xfs, then I would recommend reinitilizing the device from the gui to see if that solves the problem, if that doesn't work then try another usb hard drive.  Also try creating a new backup job.

Thanks for the info.  Does reinitilizing the thing wipe all my data and settings?
