HD-CE1.OTU-A3 comperter wont reconise

I have a buffalo HD-CE1.OTU-A3 external H/d my computer no longer  sees it.in device mag. it says its there.i update drives it says they r up to date .my right hand bottom tool bar shows it pluged in .but when I go to my compter it dont show up .so I cant use my allsync. to do back up it dont tell me what it is it use to be F but notting shows now.i dont want to lose the data on it I want to recover data off it.it use to work .my operating system is 64bit vista ultimite . my competer is a hp pavillon dv6500 or to be exsact it is dv6505tu laptop.can u help please

See what you can find if you right click on computer and go to manage, then go into disk management and see if you can find the drive and initilze it or assign it a new drive letter.  If you can't find it there then try connecting it to another usb port, or another computer.

done what u said but found the it did not show up in disk management what to do next
