I updated the firmware on my LS-CH2.0TL to version 1.24.  The update said it was successful however after I login I get a blank webpage with only the company logo at the top.  There are no other menus etc.  Nothing to do. Nothing to click.

I have two of these units and both now do the same thing.

tanjl

Just saw the v1.24 firmware.

Now downloading and testing on my side.

will let u know if same error occurs.

Btw what web browser are you using to access the web console?

cdsJerry

I'm using Firefox 3.5.7.   I did get a GUI to show up after dumping the cache twice.

When I ran the firmware updater I noticed it didn't find my Buffalo units the first two times I ran it. The third time it found them.  When I told it to update it failed three times. I then updated my second unit which it did with no problem.  I then returned to the first unit again and it updated with no problem.

Then I tried to log into the units but the GUI was gone.

My network is solid.  I've had no other issues with it. I'm not losing packets.  It's only the Buffalo stuff that's flaky and only this time.   Other than never being able to figure out how to back up one Buffalo to the other, I've never had a problem with the units until this firmware update.

Try this.  Make sure that you download the firmware hardwired.

Make sure all firewalls and anti-virus is shut down.  I have seen it at times when you have Nas Navi running and try to run the updater it will say that it cannot find it.  Shut down Nas Navi it tends to mess with the updater. Reinit the unit after the update.

All my units are now running version 1.24.

Now I just need to figure out how to make the backup work.

For FW updates, one should always download the FW over hardwire, and install the FW over hardwire. It eliminates the possibility of  2.4GHz noise corrupting the FW.

cdsJerry

Well yes. It was hardwire.  I don't recall anyone saying it was wireless in any way.

Just spelling it out for all the others reading this thread - not everyone knows to update FW with a wired connection. Have you tried any other browsers? I'll get the quality engineers to try your browser.

cdsJerry

I ran the .exe program to do the update via Ethernet hardwire.  It took several attempts before it saw any of my Buffalo units.  I tried to update one but it kept failing. After several attempts I tried my second unit and it updated fine. Feeling inspired I again tried my first unit again and it updated fine.

Once the update was finished I tried to log in using Firefox.  I was prompted for my login but then just got a blank Window with the Buffalo logo at the top.  I dumped my cache and tried again. Same result.   I tried to log onto the second unit, same result.  Dumped the cache again and the second unit worked.  Went back to the first unit and it worked as well.   Now the GUI works on both units and I consider the firmware to be correctly updated to version 1.24.

I did not try any other browsers.

Here's the reply from our quality engineers: "I have the same version of Firefox (3.5.7) and updated with no problems.  Also ran the GUI on IE, chrome, and Safari with no problems. Any suggestions?"

Clearly, we need more information - anything - even info thought to be insignificant.

What FW revision did you have before the update? It could be related to specific revs of FW.

cdsJerry

The prior firmware was the oldest "acceptable" version listed in the read-me file.  I think it was 1.10 from memory.

I have been running this for a few days

and on firefox 3.6 in my case

every now and then you get a blank login page

closing and opening firefox fixes it

but the bug is there for sure

also it will try downloading the php page once in a while instead of opening the page
