LT-H90LAN FOLDER PERMISSION ISSUES.

I found a few issues with this particular unit in the folder permission area. The server in question is a Linktheater Live, model # HS-DH500GL.

My server's "Media" folder is password restricted and PCcast is enabled. Under these conditions, the H90 will afford two paths to this media from the main menu, "Browse Media" or "Network Shared Folders". If you choose the Browse media option, the H90 will bypass any and all folder restriction of the Buffalo server (or any other NTFS folder password) and allow full folder acces. Enabling the password option in the PCCast GUI does not seem to have any effect. The Network Shared Folder however, will honor the folder restriction and ask for the username and password.

 

You can work around the issue by disabling the PCcast option ( now the volume is no longer listed on the Browse Mode) and look for the folder via the Network Shared Folder's tab. In this case a username and password is requested. The only problem with this approach is that once opened, the folders will remain open until the power is removed from the unit....which is ridiculous.

 

We have kids in the house, not everything we watch is appropriate for them. Please help!, before our wives ask for our heads.

Im a bit confused by your post.  Do you have a Link Theater and a Linkstation Live.  The model number that you post is a Link Theater  and the model number in your post is a Linkstation Live.   If it is a Linkstation Live which firmware version do you have?

The server is a Linkstation Live, model HS-DH500GL, Firmware 2.10. Sorry if I confused you. I had spoken to someone in tech support today and I was told to just summarize the problem since he had my equipment history on file.
