I have about 50 .tmp files that are on my Linkstation Pro Duo server all zero bytes. All I use this NAS is to backup files. I'm not working from this network. - where do these come from?

Paul

I have not seen this, what is the complete file name?

SDTFEB8.tmp

SDTE94C.tmp

SDTFE6C.tmp

SDTEB78.tmp

etc.

They are all zero bytes and empty when I open them in notepad. I've been mostly using vista backup to save to this NAS daily - perhaps they are from that utility.

I looked in Google and Mircosofts website and I was unable find anything on this, it is possible that your back up software is doing this.  Try another software see if the issue is still there.

If anyone else is having this problem, then havea look at :

Seems to be a "feature" if you are using Vista.

Which backup software are you using?  Have you tried this?  I got that from the link?

To resolve this issue, use one of the following workarounds.

1. Disable the folder from being offline. To do this, right-click the folder that is enabled for Offline and then click Make Available Offline.

2. Disable the trashbox within the Buffalo Terastation settings. Contact Buffalo for more information in disabling the trashbox.
