Drivestation Quattro - HD-Q1.OTSU2/R5US - Red LEDs and Power Down

While initializing the unit after power is turned on, the unit will show all four drives with red LEDs and power itself off. Does anyone know what this means and if it can be fixed? The knowledgebase says the condition is caused by one or more drives with their jumper in the slave position. I worked with tech support and they had me re-jump the drives from "non-jumped" to explicitely jumped as masters. This did not help.

 

Any help would be much appreciated.

Was there a problem with the unit before the initialization?

Prior to initialization, this unit was used to troubleshoot another unit with Buffalo Tech Support that showed two failed drives. The drives from this unit were removed and the drives from the other unit were installed into this unit. The two-drive problem followed the drives from their original unit to this unit. When I placed the original drives back into this unit and turned the unit on, after several seconds the four drive's LED's turned red and the unit shut itself off.

These units use hardware RAID.  You cannot simply replace all of the drives and expect it to work.

I'm having a similar problem.

The hard drive order had been mixed up, but even after I've rearranged the original hard drives in every possible order, the unit still has a loud long beep with solid red lights, then powers itself down.

 

Nevermind... I rebuilt the RAID using the utility... Didn't matter which order they were in... :smileysad:
