Hi, I hope that this isn't too basic a problem to post. I have tried a few searches and browsed the first couple of pages of this and the "solved" forum for a simillar problem.

I have recently started work in a school with around 800 pupils, all of which have a user account for our Curriculum Network. Our server for this is about 4-5 years old and runs Server 2003, and while it does it's job fine, it is starting to run out of storage space, which has been exacerbated by a new media course that we are running this year creating heavier storage needs.

We have a Buffalo Terastation Pro, which is more or less empty (but working fine and i've linked it to AD with no problems), and I was hoping to transfer some/all of the user accounts home folders across to this in order to take the load off our server, and am after some advice on the best/least distruptive way to do this. From what I can tell there are a couple of options I could take, but hopefully someone with a bit more knowledge in this area (which i'm hoping to find on this forum!) can help me out with some specific advice, which would be incredibly appreciated. If more specific information on our network is needed, please let me know.

Thanks

The best way would probably be through the network doing small chuncks at a time (drag and drop from one to the other, recreating the shares on the empty machine),  The only other way that I know of would be through usb drives, but that would be pointless.
