I bought my harddrive recently around a month ago. My harddrive was working fine yesterday and when i woke up and tried using it this morning, my laptop is unable to read the harddrive. After plugging in the harddrive through USB, the harddrive appeared as "Local Disk" in My Computer with a white harddrive icon instead of "HD-CEU2" with the black harddrive icon.

I've tried restarting my laptop and harddrive, reinstalling the harddrive's drivers, trying in on another computer but all to no avail. I don't want to try formmating my harddrive as i have 300GB of important data stored inside. Please help ASAP. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like filesystem corruption. You'll need to format the drive to get it working again. If the data is very important, I recommend contacting a data recovery service such as DriveSavers (http://www.drivesavers.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.drivesavers.com/)
