Linstation Pro Duo won't change file attributes

I have a Linstation Pro Duo LS-W1.0TGL/R1-US with a problem with changing the file attributes.  There is a directory that I created to be Read/Write access for Brad and admin but read only for guest.  I then used Robocopy to copy files from the attached usb1drive to the Linkstation Pro Drives.

This took too long so I stopped it after the 2nd day.  I then shutdown the system, brought it back up, had to force a firmware update because the machine couldn't be found on the network.

I can now see the drive so I started the Robocopy again and for beginning of the copy there is the message same file so it would get ignored.  However, for some files I get the message "newer file" so Robocopy then tries to copy the file.  Robocopy indicates that the file was copied byt and error shows up "the file attributes cannot be changed" .  Robocopy will make about 20 attempts to change before moving on.

At the next file that needs to be copied the same thing happens.  If I kill the Robocopy task and then restart the copy the files that had the error don't show up so no copy was needed but the next file that needs to be copied gives me the attribute error.

So....I disabled the security on the directory and tried to uncheck the Archive box for all of the files in that directory and I received an access error.

I tried this as the original file owner and as admin on the Linkstation Pro.

My questions are: "How do I change the file attributes to allow reading/writing without errors?"  and "Is there another switch/file attribute that I need to change that I am missing?"

Thanks for the help.

The ONLY way to change permissions of a folder is through web interface and the Shared Folders Section. I would recommend making all your own Users as the default ones were only intended for the web GUI and will not always work with access restrictions.

Did you say you disabled the access restrictions and got the same errors? Try initializing the unit

If you have the access restrictions on then make sure that the folder is mapped to your comp using a user that has privileges.

Hello, I have a LinkStation 500 and I recently tried to use the USB port on the back to attach an external drive.  I am seeing the drive fine and mapping to it, but I cannot delete files - a RMB>properties on any file or folder on the drive reveals a "Read Only" attribute.  I have gone into the client utility and set the permissions for the USBDrive1 share to be "read write" - actually that is the default - but it does not work.  I cannot get the drive to have read-write capabilities.  This does not happen if I attach the USB drive direct to the pc.

Can you give me a hint on how to fix this?
