USB Direct Copy on Linkstation Mini

I have made may tests to get the USB Direct Copy work on a Linkstation Mini.

From this experience, the files from the external UMS unit will only work if a shared folder named "share" will exist.

In other words, if the default shared folder (called "share") has been renamed or deleted, the USB Direct Copy function will not work.

 

Do you face similar behaviours?

Is there any way to change this (I do not find any way to parameter the target folder)?

 

In addition, my experience also shows that even with the "share" folder in place, the USB Direct Copy function is very sensitive to timing:

- plug the USB unit

- wait for the blue led to glow

- press the function button when the blue led is glowing

- wait for the blue led to blink (during copy process)

- wait for the blue led to stop blinking (copy has ended)

- press and hold the function and wait for the blue led to glow then to stop glowing

- unplug the USB unit

Well, this process is described in the user manual ... but timing is very tricky:

- the blue led will start glowing between 5 seconds to 2 minutes after the USB unit is plugged

- when copy has ended, and when the function button is pressed (and hold), the blue led will start blowing after 5 seconds to 30 seconds, and will stop glowing between 5 seconds to 30 seconds

This makes the USB Direct Copy highly painful to use!

 

Do you face similar behaviours?

Is there any way to make this work more easily?

Example: a parameter enabling to automatise, once the unit is plugged in, copy of its files then ejection after copy completion ...
