Terastation RAID 5 too full lost power, will not load RAID

I have a Terastation RAID that was about 98% full, I know dumb but I planned to get rid of some files to get it back down to 80%....

Anyhow I lost power while data was being accessed on the unit and my power backup failed, I just planed to reformat and call the

data a lost, until my wife told me that our wedding pictures were on the unit plus many other pictures. I called a few places to see how

much it would cost to recover the date and it looks like the magic number is about $2,300. I talked to one of the techs and he said

that most likely the issue is more of the fact that the drive was 98% full and it lost power.... and it does not have space to rebuild the RAID.

If that is the case then I should be able to buy larger drives and use Ghost to do a BIT by BIT copy of the drive and then Partition Magic

to extend the portions. Can anyone think of why that would not work or have any suggestions of what I should do? I know that I must keep

track of the drives and I have marked all of the drives to make sure I do not change the order they were in.

... Update

In case anyone is wondering the Terastation does see the drives it is just not loading the RAID

Also one other question, this is one of the older Terasations that used IDE drives, it looks like there are not too many IDE drives that are lager

then 500GB, I found a 750GB drive but it more expensive then a 1TB SATA drive, I was wondering if I placed a IDE to SATA adapter if the

Terastation would have trouble reading drives larger the 750GB or drives that have the IDE to SATA adapter...?

If I have to pay someone to recover the data because what I am thinking about doing will not work then fine, I much rather fix it my self and save

some cash, but I would hate to buy new drives and after it is all said and done still have to have the data professorially recovered because it did

not work.

It's not recommended for you to upgrade the capacity of the ts, esp with the issues that you are having.  The device is in an xfs file format so i'm not sure partition magic will be able to work with that.

I have not modified a TS before and I would not mind keeping it at 2TB of space I am just thinking of some way to try to get my data back with out having to pay someone $2,400 to recover about 10-20GB of pictures so that my wife does not kill me ; )

Thanks for the info about it being XFS file format I will do some research and see Partition Magic will do the job or if I will need to find some sort of Linux software to do the job...
