Support,

The update 1.10 has actually made some improvements, one particular i'd reported awhile ago, but there are still some outstanding issues, 1 in particular that is listed in the release notes that is surely not fixed...

  1. The drive spindown does -not- work.  The release notes state that 1.10 fixes an issue with the LED color being displayed during a drive-spindown.  The drives do not even spindown in the first place..this is with TS Duo and TS III.  All extra services (FTP, AFP, NFS, UPNP Media, Web Access, etc) have been disabled, no data on our test system, no encryption, and even with the network cable unplugged... but even after 4 hours of carefully watching + listening the drives never spin down.

2. Renaming the admin account is great for us for our Information Protection security, however it seems to mess a few things up.  First is when i tried to re-flash the firmware normally, it assumes it's using 'admin' when that account has been renamed...Second, changing settings for port trunking etc, seems to actually reset the second NIC port on the Terastations, resulting in x-over connections to resolve the issue or connecting to the alternate other network port.

3. Finally, the release notes mention a fix to prevent email-spam for hard drive failures, but I'm getting email spam due to network configuration issues (due to the issue referenced in point #2).

Overall, seems like a good release, but i'm a bit confused with regard to these 3 items...

Would appreciate any assistance on these..perhaps I need to change configuration parameters etc. to resolve these problems? I'll be happy to play the ignorance card as it could very likely be user error ;)

Thanks.

Thanks Rinthos,

My understanding about port trucking is that it WILL reset the NICs when you change the setting.  Also try resetting the unit through the interface.  As always, I will forward your findings to my supervisor. :)

Rinthos,

Can you post a copy of the network config spam email problem for me?

@PCPiranha,

Sorry I somehow missed your update.  To clarify you just want a copy-paste of the email body? Or are you looking for screenshots of the network configuration screen?

Thanks.
