6 Red flashing Lights

Dear All
I have just purchased a second hand Buffalo Linkstation ls-Wxl 2 bay drive and I have no HDD with it. I have purchased a 2TB WD RED drive and inserted it into Bay 1.

When turning it on The Blue light flashes for about 10 Sec then it changes to a Redd error light flashing 6 times.

The NAS reads ok in a Test Bay unit on my pc so it must be the Linkstation.

Please could someone help me get this working?

Often the stock firmware does not like being installed to a single drive for 2-bay devices. There is a specific note on a way to get around that here:

If you'd prefer you can also install Debian Linux instead of the stock firmware:
