Problem Backing Up With LinkStation Pro LS-XH1.0TL

Good Morning,

Last week I bought the LS-XH1.0TL and the install went fine, but the backups are not.  I'm using W2K3 R2 SP2 64-bit edition.  The firmware is version 1.10, which I checked and it's the latest version.  I've searched these forums but I haven't found a solution to my particular problem.

I have the LinkStation setup with a static IP address, which works.  I can copy/paste files to this drive just fine, but I cannot back up any files to it using NTBackup.  I've scheduled the backups but they haven't worked since last week when I set them up.  I can remotely access the drive just fine, and it's recognized by the NAS Navigator 2.  I don't have any access restrictions set up.

The server is Exchange and the backup is of the Exchange database only.  When I checked the NAS, the only things that show up are empty backup files and .bj3 files.

Any idea on why this isn't working?  Any help would be appreciated, thank you for your time,

Sincerely,

Conner

I wish there was an easy fix for nt_backup issues, but as with all 3rd party backup programs we can not support every type of backup in the market.  I will do some testing and see if I can replicate the problem this week.  I would recommend contacting Microsoft or see if they have anything in there forum base.

Might I recommend http://www.backupassist.com/index.html">http://www.backupassist.com/index.html  BackupAssist?    It provides a decent front and back end to NTBackup.  I'm not sure what parts of Exchange you are backing up, but they have an Exchange Mailbox backup option to PSTs.  It's not particularly expensive, compared with some other backup products I could mention

My company just recently bought Symantec Backup Exec Recovery 12.5, but it's not working either, so buying new software isn't really an option, but I appreciate the advice.

I will try Symantec Backup again to see if that works.
