ReVolut1on

Greetings,

I'm having a simple, yet extremely annoying issue. I've got a new LinkStation device (v1.07) that is connected to my modem. When trying to transfer files from my comp to the device, the transfer speed never exceeds 50KB/S. Before, when  it still was v1.02, the transfer speed was normal 10MB/S. I don't know what to do :(! I certainly do not want to wait 10 days for my pics to transfer.

EDIT: I don't know if it makes any difference, but after uprading to v1.07 I did the long complete reformat to the device  (accidentally actually).

EDIT2: Read my second post

Thanks!

Sam

I would recommend plugging our device into a router or a gigibit switch.  Don't think we have the old firmware for the device.  Depends on the saturation of the drive, network connection speeds, speed of the computer, firewall and antivirus programs.  Try to change the ip address and map it again.

ReVolut1on

I seem to be unable to change the IP address at all. The device has been acting very odd since I updated. For example, when I launch NASnav, it normally starts searching for the device. Hovewer, I get the following popup every time: "Cannot connect to LS-CHLCC2. n\Do you wish to automatically correct the IP address?". If I click "No", the program freezes for a few seconds and then the LinkStation appears normally. If I close NASNav and open it again, it still prompts me to change the IP address. Well, if I click "Yes" instead, the program either says: "Failed to change the IP address" or "IP address changed successfully". It actually doesn't matter which, since the IP address does NOT change at all and the device still shows in NASNav normally. Renewing the IP from settings doesn't work either. Also, I can't map the device. The program simply reports: "Failed mapping. Remote default share is missing". What is this??  When I was running version 1.02, none of these phenomenoms happened and the transfer speed was normal. I have tried both old and the new versions of NASNav.

Is there any way to update the device again? I guess the process just somehow failed.

Thanks!

Sam

One of the ways to stop it from trying to correct the IP address all the time is set a static on the unit.  When your mapping the drive are you mapping it through Nas Navi or via the ipaddress in the run box.  If your using Nas Navi to map it then try this.  Go to your "run" box and type in \\ipaddress.

Okay thanks for your help!

I've got two issues left now:

1. This is the most urgent one: Why is there suddently a 50kb/s transfer speed 'cap' on the device? It doesn't matter if I'm transferring something IN TO the device or OUT OF the device. The transfer speed is always ~50kb/s. Pre-updating to 1.07 I had a stable 10mb/s transfer rate as it should be. I need my files backed up onto the device and simply opening a PDF manual from the LS takes like 3 minutes. Please help if you can :(

2. How to set a static on the unit? I apologize if this is a dumb question but I'm not so experienced in network settings etc.

Thanks again!

Rein -it the unit through the web interface go to maintenance>initialization>restore.  After that go to network then disable DHCP and match the Ip address of your network, make sure that your on the same subnet.

ReVolut1on

Okay I did a re-init on the device and went to network settings. Disabled DHCP as you said, set the same subnet and ip address as my computer. Then clicked 'apply'. When I tried to access LS again with the new IP, my browser just reported a network problem, "can't access this network blah blah...". NasNav won't also recognize it anymore. What did I do wrong?
