I am having some connection problems with my hard drive.  It all began when I like an idiot knocked it onto my hard floor.  Immediately after I connected it to my main PC (Running Vista Ultimate) and accessed it fine and thought I had averted crisis.  Then the next day I connected it and the computer recognized it, but did nothing, when I clicked on "My Computer" to see if it was there it showed nothing and stopped responding.  Then the second I disconnected it from my computer everything showed up in "my computer" and was fine.  I then tried it on my other computer which has XP, I was able to successfully access it and all the files on it.  I then connected it to my network and thus far have been unable to connect to it from my Vista machine, which I previously was able to.  I logged into the drive using my browser and was able to do that, it also shows up on my network map as active and online.  When I try to map to it though it keeps telling me the login information in incorrect.  So my question is this happening because I damaged the drive, because Vista sucks, or some other reason I am unaware of?

Any input or suggestions would be appreciated.

Is there any chance that you formatted the drive to ntfs?  If you did that it will give you nas issues.  Try connecting back in usb mode and see if your able to grab any files if your data is not backed up.  Also try to turn off your firewall and antivirus programs when trying to access the drive across the network.

You know I did reformat (before I dropped it) to NTFS.  I did this because I wanted to create a backup image of my computer, but it wouldn't work unless it was formatted to NTFS.  I already tried disabiling the firewall and anti-virus (which I never did before) and still was unable to access it.  Well the formatting thing must explain why I cannot access it through my network, but I still don't get why I can access it via the USB connection on my XP machine, but not on my Vista computer.
