I recently bought 1 TB LinkStation Live Shared Network Storage Server. I don't know how to find the current firmware on it and if it needs update. If any more information is required, let me know. I've set it up and all works fine, but the speed is not so good. It took 1+hr to transfer about 2 GB total image files from my laptop over wireless. Secondly, I copied files to it from another USD drive(about 20 GB), and it copied to a 'sharedUSDBdisk' folder in matter of minutes, so I was happy, but I tried to move all files from this shared folder to the other shared folder, it looks like it was doing a network copy instead of local copy. I had to abort that as it would take days.... Is there any special way or trick that would allow me to make local copy.

Best thing to do is to try to flash it to the newest version.  got to buffalotech.com support and downloads, put in your model number and download the firmware.  Unzip it to a new folder on your desktop.  Then disable all firewalls and antivirus.  Go into the folder and click in the updater exe.

Pls make sure your wireless network is not heavily utilised. eg. using it for downloads, torrents etc etc..

I faced this problem when i was transferring on the wireless but it ws smooth while on the lan.
