Vista cannot see LS-CHL LinkStation Live

This is seriously frustrating.  The XP workstation can see the new installation and the wizard from the CD/DVD worked as expected.  The software installed.  It mapped the drive and I copied all the files to the new NAS device.

I then moved on to the next computer and this one is a Windows Vista Home Premium computer.  The install wizard returns... NASNavigator2:  "No available LinkStation is found."

From a DOS prompt I can ping the IP address of the LS-CHL (192.168.1.102) from this computer (192.168.1.101).

Explorer -> Network ...even has a listing for the device under "NAMEOFDEVICE : LinkStation : PVConnect : Windows Media Connect".  Unfortunately clicking this only brings up Media Player and does me no good.

Attempting file://192.168.1.102/Share" target="_blank">\\192.168.1.102\Share results in "The network path was not found".  All three (XP, Vista & NAS) are in the same workgroup ("WORKGROUP").  Reading the Knowledge Base, I tried the registry hack that involves something to do with NTLM.  This also hasn't helped.  The Windows Firewall software is disabled at the ethernet card level.  The wireless is turned off and this isn't involved.

I can get to the administrative console from a browser but this doesn't allow me to map any drives to the device, the goal here.

I'll give this a try but it begs the question of why Buffalo Tech would certify that the device is Vista-compatible on the box and not load the batch during the installation (if it's a requirement on this platform)?  I ran the installation CD from the Vista machine first and it couldn't see the device.

So now I'll have to schedule a second visit to my client site and try to get this going.

Our apologies for the inconvenience however the reason the patch was set as an optional download is because we didn't find a fix until after Vista's release. To top it off this is an issue that hasn't been seen with all users (i.e. intermittent) who purchased our devices and ran Vista.
