Hi,

We've got a TS Pro with 4 x 1.5TB seagate drives in it. The raid creation page shows the correct sizes of the disks, but the disk status screen shows that each one only has 500gb capacity.

If we create a raid 5 array, we get a 1.5TB array (4 x 500GB, minus 500gb for the raid 5). However we are expecting a 4.5TB raid 5 array.

Anyone know why one screen shows the right disk sizes, but the disk status screen shows the wrong size, and why a wrong size raid 5 array is created ?

Its a TS-2.0TGL/r5 with fw 1.04.

Just some basic info from you.  What is the original capacity of theunit.  What firmware are you using, when did you purchase the unit?

oliverm

F/w is 1.04

Unit is about 2 years old I would guess.

Not sure of the original capacity, but I would imagine it was 4 x 500GB.

Does the age or original specs determine a limit as the size of the array that you can create ?

I think if I remeber correctly the unit can only handle 1 Tb drives.

This site says otherwise. The specs say;

Number of Drives 4
Drive Interface SATA
Hard Drive Sizes 250GB, 500GB, 750GB, 1.0TB, 1.5TB
Total Capacity 1.0 TB, 2.0 TB, 3.0TB, 4.0TB, 6.0TB
Supported RAID Levels 0, 1, 5, 10

Ill just put it this way.  Its not supported.  Those are the diffrent capacity units we make not what you can upgrade your unit to.
