Hi,

Was wondering if someone can help.  I have a Terastation HS-DHTGL/R5 and tonight, whilst downloading files, my Terastation started making a disk clicking sound and soon after made a beep sound notifying me I have 'HD1 Bad Sectors' and now displays an amber warning light.

Can someone please advise on the best course of action?  The Terastation is configued to RAID 5.

Thanks,
Alfie

Either call in and set up an RMA if your device is within 1 year of warranty or shut down the device pull the defective drive replace it with a drive of the same size and stats.  After replacing it you will need to restructure the raid array which can be done by going into the user interface -> disk maintenance -> raid setup -> choosing your raid array and than choosing the drive that needs to be restructured and selecting "restructure."  This can take a few hours but it will rebuild the raid array around the replacement drive.

Thanks - I'm pretty sure that the device is < 1 year so will take the RMA route.

When you call in they are going to set you up with an RMA for the 1 drive that is bad.  The process is the same as above for getting the drive back into the raid array.  If you need help feel free to call tech support we are open 24/7/365.
