We just purchases a Quattro 4 TB DriveStation to do backups with.  We have 400 gb to copy over to it.  After 2 days we killed the copy process.  I downloaded richcopy and started over with one directory that was 56 gb.  After 17 hours of copying, it has written 36 gb of data and rich copy is reporting 500,000 bytes per second.

This is ridiculous.  The device is configured as Raid 5.  The only thing I can think of is the raid controller built in is just cheap and slow?  I get better throughput to a old floppy drive.

I know it's probably just a quality thing but thought I'd check to see if there is anything that can be done.  It's attached to a sata port on a Dell Poweredge 2950.
