HS-DH4.0TGL/R5 hit by lightning

I have a HS-DH4.0TGL-R5 4 TB Terastation Live.  About a month ago, my home network was hit by lightning.  I believe it came in either on the cable through the cable modem or through an overhead network line I have running to my garage.  Took out my cable modem, router, two switches, two computers and my terastation.

 

I did not lose anything else in the house and I have lots of TV's, electronic gear, etc. so that is why I believe it was isolated to the wired network.

 

Anyway...question is:  My terastation smells burnt and does not power on.  Since I believe the power supply to be good (which is the case in my other two computers that died) is it worth repairing this unit or will it likely cost more to repair it then it is worth to buy a new one?  My guess is that it will need all new guts with possibly the exeption of the hard drives (assuming they survived).

 

Does Buffalo still have all the parts for this unit or what?

What do you mean "In the end it would be more cost more"?  Do you mean in the end it will cost more to repair it? I figured parts would be an issue as well.

Sorry about the typo.  It would cost more and you could have a problem even getting the parts.

   The cheapest way without having access to the parts would be to find a refurb TS Live of the lowest capacity and switch out all four drives.  If you keep the drives in order, you should be ok, and you then have four hard drives to use to implement for a backup strategy for the next time lightning strikes.  You void any refurb warranty, but at least you'd have access to your 4.0TB of data.
