I just installed my 3rd Buffalo Terrastation Pro. I didn't have any trouble getting it to connect to active directory, or getting group and user names from active directory. I created a share and was able to assign users to the control and read groups on the terrastation. What I can't do is access the share using any username and password combination from any computer on the network. I can apparently read , but cannot create folders or files in the share. I get an Access denied message when I try to write to the share. I updated the firmware to the 1.38 release dated 10-29-1008 and still have the problem. Can browse to the terrastation and its shares now from Map a network drive, and all the shares are visible. They were not before I updated the firmware.

Please help

Paul

I would update the firmware on the unit then set it back to factory defaults

pgarrard

Ok I tried that and I still get the same result. The clocks are syncronized, Same Time Zone, Pulled in Group and user names, but cannot access except for read only.

Paul

Are you mapping by IP address or Name?

pgarrard

Tried both. Get same result both ways.

Paul

The user should have read/write access to the folder. However, if youhave the user in a group which is in the read only category then theread permissions would be the dominant ones. Outside of this try justdefaulting the unit from the reset button on the back, this won'taffect any of the data stored on the unit, only configuration settings.

I finally got it figured out over the weekend. The Active Directory setup on that server is a little different, and I wasn't allowing who I thought I was. Once I figured that out it worked. Thanks for the help.

HI Pgarrard,

I noticed that you have fix the problem with the active directory, we have a similar problem and would like if you can send us information on how your fix your AD and so we can compare if our AD might be the problem also that we cannot communicate with it.
