I purchased 3 of this model of ministation to use as exteral backup for a windows 2003 server and my XP PC.  I am having difficutly keeping them on line.  - All have been converted to NTFS, they will sometimes (usually within a couple of hours) become unavailable.

I am running memeo on the PC and the drive went off line after coping 85 GB.

They have been unreliable so far.  I have a couple of other USB hard drives from Buffalo that have been bullet proof doing the same things...

any suggestions?

Do you have the external power cable plugged in?

jmartyna

I have tried with the external power cable (usb) Plus the USB cable.  And without the external power supply.  Same issue.

I have tried USB1 and USB2 ports

How many USB ports do you have?  Generally speaking the USB ports on the back of the computer work better.  If you have already tried those ports.  Also please understand that we do not support 2003 server:

I have tried several of the USB ports.  Both on a windows Server 2003 and on an XP PC.

Then I would call our support line for a replacement (assuming its within it's warranty)
