making exact copy (mirror) of Terrastation Pro II to an identical TPII on the network?

If I understand correctly, there is no true mirroring option in the TPII, correct? With that said, if I want to make a nightly "copy" of the entire primary unit (hence to be knows as TPII-1) over to the failover unit (TPII-2), I assume then I need to set a night backup to run, right? I created identical shares on both units.

based on the details of the backup options here: http://www.buffalotech.com/knowledgebase/users/kb.php?id=10016&category_id=0&sid2" target="_blank">http://www.buffalotech.com/knowledgebase/users/kb.php?id=10016&category_id=0&sid2=

i would think I need to run an Overwrite Backup Differential. My big question is in clarification of this statement:

"If a file is on the destination that is not on the source, it will be deleted."

I want to be 100% certain I am reading this right, since much of the support documentation for Buffalo's stuff is, well, less than grammatically correct (some of it is barely English!).

That statement means that after the first complete backup runs, every backup after that, the TSII-1 sends over all changed files to the TSII-2 AND if there is a file on the TSII-2 (destination/failover unit) that is no longer on the TSII-1 (primary unit), IT WILL BE DELETED FROM THE TSII-2 (DESTINATION/FAILOVER UNIT) not deleted from the source TSII-1

sound right?

Also, to keep the backup from creating additional folders on the destination, i want to UNCHECK ""Create a file folder which would be identified by backup source" ...correct?

Since both units have exactly the same shared folders setup and in the backup setup, each folder on TSII-1 is set to back up to the same folder on TSII-2 then, theorhetically, after a backup occurs and before any more files are changed on TSII-1, I should have an exact duplicate of the files and directory structure on TSII-2... true?

on a side note, if anyone cares, I have 2 4TB Terrastation Pro II's and 2 8TB Terrastation Pro II's in my network as well as a few Buffalo exteral drives...needless to say, I'm doing my part to suppor the company. Can we PLEASE get a team of AMERICAN ENGLISH writers on staff please to redo ALL of the technical support docs and maybe more importantly, the actual items IN THE UNIT FIRMWARE? It drives me crazy to not be able to comprehend a sentence like "Backup task isn't cancel even error is occurred"

and while you are at it, please institute a better backup methodology for those of us using more than just little external storage drives (NAS to NAS mirroring, traditional differential backups, etc)

Thanks all for the help

You are correct with your interpretation of the backup options.  Also a lot of these features are available with the ts3(replication from ts3 to ts3).  And recently we made some changes where our us headquarters now have more control over the documentation around the products we sell in this region.

Thanks for the reply and good news on the localized documentation. now, more importantly...HOW LONG HAS THE TS3 BEEN AVAILABLE?! I JUST (like last week) bought another 4TB and the 2 8TB TSIIs. I didn't see them listed!
