I'm having a problem with my HD-PEU2 portable hard drive.  It died ONE DAY after I bought it; on the same day I started using it.  After transferring most of my datas (photos and docs) into it, the system just did nopt detect it in MY COMPUTER.  It still appear in DEVICE MANAGER though.

The technician at the Service Lab simply said "it died".

Going kaput on the first day of usage for no apparent reason is simply ridiculous.  Couldn't BUFFALO at least offer to RECOVER the DATAs?

It may have become unformatted.  What options do you have when you right click on the drive in device manager?  Most often this will happen because of power inconsistancies or not properly unmounting the drive before removing it.  Make sure you are properly unmounting the unit as this is the most common cause.

We apologize for the inconvenience.  To answer your question we do not recover data.  Please always make sure that you have impotant data backed up as this is the only sure fire way to ensure that it is safe.
