We have this problem with our terastation pro II nas station. We are using this product as our backup system and software we use is symantec backup exec. The problem is that the station keeps dropping offline from the backup software and so the backups allso fail, which is not a good thing. Any help would be appreciated.

Tekno -

Have you been seeing any other problems with your network as of late, or no?

If not, do you have the Unit connected to the network through your router or a switch? Try using different cables, ports, or connecting directly to the router. If that doesn't address the issue, then what firmware version are you currently using on the Terastation?

Generally reloading the firmware has been known to fix these sorts of issues.

If you're using the latest firmware on the device, try forcing it, using the procedure listed on FAQ 2 under storage, or try setting a static ip address on the device.

best of luck.

Hello,

Thanks for the answer. Terastation is connected to a windows server 2003 in its own 1gb ethernet interface. We had it running few months ago with a wireles link and thats when we first experiensed these connection problems. So we changed it to wired connection and everything was fine for few months and now again these same problems. Firmware version on the device is 1.05 so its pretty old and i prolly should update it. cables, ports, switches and even network card has been replased when trying to fix this.

This terastation is managing one of our customers whole backups and thats the reason it should be fixed as soon as possible.

TeknoJeewes, DO NOT update to 1.33 directly as this might result in complete data loss. Upgrade to a lower firmware first of all and then 1.33
PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.
Having network issues? Drop me an email: info@interwebsireland.com and we will get it fixed!

Have i helped you? Buy me a coffee as a thanks!

I would advise 1.25 or 1.27.

Seems 1.33 still have some problems.

I would disagree, 1.33 seems to be the most stable (unless you want to go all the way back to 1.23) and if I remember correctly I did not have as many good experiences with 1.25 but, that was long ago... I would recommend updating to 1.33, along with DAVO's suggestion

Too late to tell me not to update directly to the latest firmware, cause i allrdy did it. No data loss ( thank god ), but the problem still exists.  Any other ideas what would possibly fix this?

How many backup jobs do you have running to the TS at one time? If there are multiple ones, try staggering them out.

Log into the Web GUI> Maintenance> Initialization> Restore to Defaults, this will restore all settings but doesn't touch the data or shares.

Also Run a "Disk Check" through Disk Management

Bah... Cant even log on to webgui... Username and password accepted, but the hole gui is empty except the buffalo logo is showing... Guess ill just send this pease of crap back to buffalo and let them get into it.

Thanks for the posts.
