Hello all ,

i have a Terastation Live 2tb that up untill today has been working perfectly.

Last night i shut the terastation down and turned off my router , when i turned it all on again this morning i cant access any of the files on my terastation it says...

\\terastation\music is not accessible You might not have permission to use this network resource contact the administator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.

The network path was not found.

The nas navigator can see the terastation and i can log into the web admin , i can see the shares but not access them.

I have forced the firmware and am running version 2.14

This is a nightmare all my business files are on it and i cant access them.

I would really appreciate any help to get this sorted , if all else fails how will i get the data off the terastation?

Thanks all

Graeme

Help!!!!!

I have a similar problem. I have a rackmount Terastation Pro II.  I am running a distributed application that accesses CD images stored on the TS.  I have recently replaced the unit via RMA.  The replacement TS was setup using the same name and static IP address as the old one.  After creating the share and restoring the data onto the new TS, the application was working fine.  A couple of days later the application stopped working, saying it could not access the files on the TS.  Nothing changed (permissions, etc.) from the time it was working until it stopped.  Not all workstations are having problems accessing the TS (I know of at least one that can access the data).

Here are some additional details:

1)  The application accesses via a data mapping to the H: drive.  I tried using both the DNS name (SG-NAS01) and the IP address in the mapping.  When the IP address is used, the files can be seen in the Windows Explorer but the application still cannot locate the files.  It will not let me map the H: drive using the \\SG-NAS01\[sharename] (when I do an authentication logon comes up but I can't finish the mapping even with a domain administrator id).

2) Our backup software (BackupAssist) can no longer resolve the share names (this has been the case from day one with the new box; the old box was backed up with no problems).  I have tried to remap them using the IP address but BackupAssist will not take accept IP addresses.  Interestingly, BackupAssist does go to the DNS and resolves the IP address to the server name and gives me the option to use the server name, but when I try to connect to the share it says it can't find it.

3) My old Terastation was prone to these same issues, just not as bad.  The application would not be able to access the share one day, but the next day it would work with no intervention.

I'm really at a loss.  I have added read/write permissions for virtually every group in my domain.  I have also disabled Access Restrictions on the share.  No matter what I do, the ones that aren't working still don't work and the one that is working still works.

Hmmm, Similar but not the same.

@Graeme

How about on other machines? - See SmartNote posting.

- disconnect all network drives with right click, disconnect

- log off/ log on in Windows, try

- if no luck open cmd and type: net use x: \\[IP of TS]\music

- any errors?

@SmartNote

I understand you have joint a domain

- disconnect network drives

- pick one share with  a user you know and no domain admin added

- usually the domainserver is DNS so names shouldnt be a problem

- but check the arp cache, cmd > arp -a

- any problems? ping the TS, try again

- the mapping command for you would be net use h: \\SG-NAS01\share /USER:domain\username

- you could try IP as well and full qualified and NT domain name

- after unsuccessful attempt log off/log on  on Windows because  it's better to clear the browser cache

Both: Ever did a firmware reset and start from scratch? (no data loss)Let's see if we come closer....

Anybody have any solutions to this? I have exactly the same problems as above. The only thing I can add is that I am pretty sure that our drives were full...though I don't see why we shouldn't be able to connect to them.

Anybody?
